Uruguay Property will publish a regular update of Covid 19 news, related to Uruguay and the region, using only official channels, government guidelines and  HELP contact lists in case they may be needed.  We thus hope to provide a useful service to the ex-pat community who are not that well versed in Spanish.

Following Uruguayan local and national government guidelines, all property businesses in Punta del Este/Maldonado province have closed their offices to visitors and are working from home attending to clients and potential investors via video conference, email, Whatsapp, skype or telephone. Uruguay Property is an executive member of the chamber of realtors in Punta del Este/Maldonado and we shall gladly pass on the information that our organization compiles as well as the info we receive from the Ministry of Tourism or the Uruguayan Chamber of Tourism.

• Maldonado police will close area of panoramic view near Casa Pueblo in Punta del Este to control the gathering of people
• Hotel Enjoy Punta del Este, Hotel Argentino Piriapolis, Hotel Solanas, Portezuelo have closed their doors and offered their facilities to the government in case of need
• Tourism Minister German Cardoso is asking hotels who still advertise for spending Easter weekend in quarantine to refrain from such irresponsible practice
• The  Uruguayan government has decreed that salaries of all civil servants and public employees who earn more than $pesos 80.000 per month will have to take a cut of between 5-20% depending on exact amount of pay. The proceeds will be the start capital for a fund to be created for the needy and to purchase urgent medical supplies.
